122nd Movement
Here is the truth.

Many of you, I am certain, think me full of false bravado. Certain in the towering heights of my ego that I cannot conceive of something that I could not destroy, could not conceive of something I could not win against.

That I am a foolish man who thinks he can take down things far above him.

These thoughts, I'm afraid, could not be further from the truth.

The truth is that, in the end, win or lose, it doesn't matter. I fully expect that I will lose, in the end, for nothing lasts forever.

And so all of you, for all your might and puissance and heights of power hold absolutely no fear over me, I'm afraid.

Because I win or lose, live or die, I simply do not care.

The goals are not important.

Only the means.

As long as you get to do what you love, you don't give a damn about anything else, including how it ends. So I was about right then.

Once the dance begins, I intend to waltz as long as I am able.

Until your feet fall off, it seems.

Indeed. An inevitability, to be sure.

A fact you and I will always differ on. War without a clear goal, with nothing to work toward, is pointless.

Ahh, but perhaps I have not been clear.

A war without a clear goal is pointless. I did not set out to just cause war. I set out to kill Alucard during World War III.

That is to say, I must have a goal with which I obtain my means. But I do not make it limit me.

It was all to kill one being?

Yes.

And no.

It was all about changing the world. It was all about revenge for World War II.

But in the end, I set my sights on what was, at the time, the greatest enemy of all.

Then this "Alucard" is very strong, yes?

Very. He is less a man or a vampire, more a walking fortress. The essence of a vampire, you see, is the taking in of all that they have consumed.

And he has consumed quite a bit.

So killing him is merely tantamount to killing all of those he has fought?

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]warconductor

One could look at it like that, yes. I had a more creative solution.

But yes. One must kill all those he has fought.

He was indeed.

But that is the great thing about this City. So many wonderful people to do battle with.

Don't you ever shut up about this? Do you believe we, Hellsing at least, cares about anything but stop your attack? Your goal, your war, your entire wishes are irrelevant.

You are only a foe that must be crushed. Just like Maxwell. If you die with a smile or in defeat, I don't give a damn as long you are killed.

Frauline, if you truly do not care about these things, I recommend not responding as much.

After all, one does begin to wonder.

I am correcting you in your rubbish views about our expectations like you are telling the world again that you don't care to be defeated.

We don't care to "defeat" you, we only care to put an end to your actions.

And you correct. And you correct. And you correct.

I might think you had a vested interested in making it clear that I am wrong.

But as long as you will fight, your reasons remain your own.

It's those thoughts that breed men of strength. All it takes is pure ambition to succeed, even holding in mind you might die in the process.

We are both men who have lost all fear of death.

A proverb says that the man who wants nothing is invincible.

I do not believe in invincibility. But he who loses fear of death and pain becomes free. Lying on the ground, dying...

It was an revelatory experience.

But men are the same as swords, are they not? Leave them in place for so long and they rust. The most beautiful swords are the one that taste battle each day and languish in the blood of those who have brought dishonor to ones home.

But I'm by no means an honorable man myself.

One can only sharpen one's sword for so long, practice the movement for so long.

Eventually, it is time to perform.
